FAREWELL TRANSMISSION

This is it for the Get Up - thank you for your fone calls, your love letters and your attention paid. This was one of my favourite shows and three hours flew by like a bird into a window: suddenly. It may be six months or more before I dust myself off and make it back to play more music, but it will happen someday. I'll try to do something useful with myself in the meantime.

Today, we heard:

Betty Carter // Naima's Love Song
Aloe Blacc // Femme Fatale
Weather Report // Teen Town (Ron)
Air // Universal Traveler
Glassner // Home
Baths // Nordic Laurel
Louis & Ella // Nearness of You (Heather & Colleen to Kierstin)

Curtis Mayfield // I'm Your Pusher Man (Amber)
Dylan LeBlanc // If Time Was for Wasting
Best Coast // Crazy for You
Here We Go Magic // Terminally Chill (Neon Indian cover)

Coiled Galaxy, Gregory Whitehead

Here's something Gregory Whitehead wrote about whereever he was broadcasting from - sounds like the Pacific Northwest, who knows:

“The radio station of the NIGHT SKY and the HOUSING CRISIS, of CRANBERRY HARVESTS and CONSPICUOUS CONSUMPTION, of LAZY SWIMS and HIGH-SPEED FERRIES, of CHILDREN BUILDING CASTLES ON THE BEACH and JUNKIES SHOOTING SKAG IN THE PARKING LOT, of BLUEBERRY BUSHES and BULL MARKETS.”

You can learn more about him at the Transom Review, which is coincidentally a rad resource.

Next week is a special edition of the Get Up: The Bran Finale. The three hours are dedicated to dedications - since it's my last show before I go away for a long, long time, I'm going to be playing songs for everybody I'm gonna miss. I'm going to the Netherlands, with only seaside bike rides and smoked Gouda to distract myself from all the folks I left back home. Audience participation is encouraged - call in & request a song for somebody you need to see on a daily basis --
